Greater Infallible Word Church Of God In Christ

Bishop C. L. Howard founded Greater Infallible Word Church of God in Christ in April 2000 with its first service held on Sunday, April 16, 2000.  His former wife, Dr. Willie Mae Culclager (deceased) and his sister-in-law, Mother Patrice A. Culclager-Kidd were his first members.   Bishop Howard located a storefront building at 2209 E. 28th Street in Kansas City, Missouri where he renovated the space with plush carpet, french doors, musical instruments and new chairs to seat seventy-five people.  The church grew numerically at this location and auxiliaries were implemented.  Many souls were added, saved, healed and delivered.  Unfortunately, services were only held at this location for a short time.  In January 2003, an unknown person poured a flammable liquid on the back of the church and set it afire while Bishop Howard was working inside.  The church burned to the ground and was a total loss.

In an effort to keep the church together, Bishop Howard located a small unoccupied church around the corner at 2901 Garfield Avenue known as the Eastside Baptist Church.  With wooden floors, wooden splintered benches and no functional restrooms, Bishop Howard preached until souls were saved, delivered and set free.  Due to the inconvenience of restroom facilities, the church moved to the Super 8 Motel at 8th & Admiral Blvd in Kansas City, Missouri.  God tremendously blessed while at this location.  The church was gifted its first church van by Mr. & Mrs. Archie L. (Retha M.) Jackson.

In need of a permanent space, Bishop Howard set out on a quest to find a suitable place for the growing congregation.  In May of 2005, he located a commercial space at 5701 Troost Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri.  God gave Bishop Howard favor with the owners and the church relocated June 5, 2005.  This facility was renovated to include a state of the art sound system and accommodated one hundred fifty people.  The church grew immensely and the choir, liturgical dance ministry and other community initiatives were implemented.

The church relocated to a commercial building at 5632 Troost Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri in March 2010.  Bishop Howard prophesied to the congregation that this church was just the “parking lot” to the “Temple.”  At this location, Bishop Howard birthed the Academy of Excellence Leadership Institute dedicated to training ministers in ecclesiastical protocol and church government.   Evangelism was the focus for this blighted neighborhood.  Many Saturdays were focused on witnessing to the neighborhood and surrounding businesses.

On June 7, 2011 while driving down Paseo Boulevard in Kansas City, Missouri, Bishop Howard noticed a church at 5743 Paseo Boulevard that was available for immediate acquisition.  As Bishop Howard states, “I got two miles down the road and the Lord kept speaking to me to go back and get the number and call for information.  I obeyed God and called the same day and met with the agent the next day and the rest is history.”  Bishop Howard rented another facility at 6809 Longview Rd., Kansas City, Missouri while negotiations and ultimately renovations were being made at the Paseo location.   The Church Dedication Service was held on Sunday, September 11, 2011.   The church has experienced wonderful blessings and much growth; both spiritually, numerically and financially.  The church includes a state of the art sound system, seating capacity of four hundred, executive offices, classrooms, his and her restrooms, fellowship hall with 150 seating capacity, conventional kitchen and off street parking.

The Greater Infallible Word Church of God in Christ stands as a beacon of light in the community on a sprawling half acre and has been coined by the First Lady, Dr. Tierra Howard as “The Star on The Boulevard.”  At this location, the church has hosted many evangelism/community events, sidewalk sales, food giveaways, Thanksgiving basket giveaways and so much more.  The Bishop has offered the church for funerals of homicide victims and weddings for couples.  The church continues to thrive under the leadership of Bishop C. L. Howard and is a member of The Church Of God In Christ, Inc. (Headquarters - Memphis, TN), Missouri Midwest Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction.
