Bishop C. L. Howard, ThD, DD

Bishop C. L. Howard was saved and filled with the Holy Ghost at age eight and began preaching and was licensed to preach at age fifteen and ordained at age eighteen under the late great Bishop S. R. Chambers, founder of the Evangelist Temple House of Refuge for All Nations Church of God in Christ Diocese.  The bishop prides himself as being a Pentecostal, holiness preacher and his mantra is "HOLINESS IS STILL RIGHT!"  

 

Bishop Howard is a product of the Kansas City Missouri Public School system and a graduate of Southeast Health Professions and International Studies High School where he served as President of Youth for Christ and was voted as "most likely to succeed."   In the corporate world, Bishop Howard worked as Vice-President of Commercial Realty, Inc and Omega Realty Company for more than fifteen years, respectively, overseeing numerous commercial property renovations, a budget in excess of five million dollars, overseeing over five thousand commercial units and a staff of over two hundred.

 

Bishop Howard was ratified by the Board of Presbyter and officially consecrated to the sacred office of Bishop on August 25, 1998, inheriting oversight of (12) twelve churches and has presided over as many as 30 churches under his jurisdictional charge. At the time of his episcopal ascension, he was thought to be the youngest bishop in the nation.  On March 6, 2021, the School of the Great Commission Theological Seminary conferred upon him an honorary Doctor of Christian Theology degree.

 

Bishop Howard is founding pastor of Greater Infallible Word Church of God in Christ (Kansas City, MO) for 26 years and former Presiding Bishop of The DUNAMIS Pentecostal Fellowship Diocese; retiring after 20 years of service.  The bishop also serves as founder and Dean of the Academy of Excellence Leadership Institute, dedicated to creating episcopacy and ecclesiastical protocol in African American Pentecostal Churches.  In addition to his many civic and ecclesiastical responsibilities, he serves as Second Vice President of the Concerned Clergy Coalition of Kansas City; member of the National Advisory Council of We Have Not Many Fathers Fellowship International; Vice President of the Joint College of African American Pentecostal Bishops (El Paso, TX); member of KC Board of Parks & Recreation Paseo Steering Committee; has served as a columnist for the Kansas City Globe newspaper, The Next Page newspaper; Executive Board member and Chaplain of the Kansas City Concerned Clergy Coalition; former member, Board of Bishops of The Free Church of God True Holiness USA Diocese and  the Board of Bishops of The Evangelist Temple House Of Refuge For All Nations COGIC Diocese.  He has received numerous proclamations, Keys-to-Cities many other decorations and has been guest on BET, The Word Network and The NOW Network. Bishop Howard is currently a member of the Episcopal Committee and serves as a Resident Bishop and District Superintendent of the L. C. Page District in the Missouri Midwest Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ under General Board Member and Jurisdictional Prelate, Bishop Dr. Elijah H. Hankerson III.  He currently serves as Interim Pastor of Wayland's Temple COGIC, Marshall, Missouri.

 

Bishop Howard's evangelistic ministry spans 42 states, his pastoral career spans four states and his preaching ministry spans four decades.  He has helped administratively establish other churches across the United States and is a constant advisor to other pastors and bishops both young and old.

 

Bishop Howard is happily married to Dr. Tierra M. Howard, who the bishop affectionately calls his "chocolate drop" and "The Fragrance of Our House."    He is also the father of three amazing children, and grandfather of five.
